Hidden Figures inspires 20th Century Fox and Black Girls Code to join forces

At the top of the new year, 20th Century Fox and Black Girls Code (BGC) teamed up to create FutureKatherineJohnsons.com following the premier one of the most talked about films this season…Hidden Figures.

The new website, designed to highlight future “Katherine Johnsons”, has a goal to teach 1,000,000 girls how to code. Last month the initiative streamlined a nationwide private screening of the hit movie, specifically for the tech divas in training, and we were honored to attend at The Regal Atlantic Station in the Atlanta, GA area.

“Hidden Figures” highlighted the journey of three African American women as they tackle the difficult task of working for NASA during the civil rights era. Facing inevitable adversity as black genuises, not to mention being women…they managed to persevere and change the world! A truly inspirational story for all girls and women across the globe.

Reaction of the audience during different parts of the movie was fueled with strong emotion and inspiration while the three herions knocked down one barrier after another as black mathematicians during a immensely difficult time for blacks; 1960’s America.

The movie tells the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history. Starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell & Kimberly Quinn, HIDDEN FIGURES opened everywhere January 6th, 2017.

Already having won numerous awards, the film has left an unforgettable imprint on the lives of Americans since its debut. A true example of black girl magic!
