Nearly three years after the final season, another Glee cast member has died of apparent suicide by hanging.
35-year-old, Mark Salling, most recognized for playing the role of a Noah “Puck” Puckerman, a reformed child delinquent on the show. However, no one expected his true character to unveil such a dark story. Salling recently plead guilty to possession of child pornography after authorities allegedly seized over 50,000 images of child porn on his computer and a personal thumb drive. After being indicted in 2016, the actor recently reached a plea agreement with prosecutors last October and his sentencing was scheduled for March 7th, but he’d never get to hear the punishment after taking his own life on Tuesday January 30th. According to court documents circulated at the time of indictment, Salling agreed to a plea bargain, saying in court:
“I am pleading guilty because I am guilty of the charges and wish to take advantage of the promises set forth in this agreement, and not for any other reason.”
He faced four to seven years of prison and mandatory registry as a sex offender. Salling’s body was discovered hanging from a tree early Tuesday morning, in a riverbed near his Sunland, California home. His Glee cast-mates defended him on Twitter after mixed emotions flooded timelines following the hashtag #MarkSalling.
See below what Glee producer, Tim Davis, tweeted to mediate Salling disparagers.
