Maino stole an impromptu moment to jokingly express himself to Lil’ Kim this past Monday, June 11th, as he and several others came together to celebrate the Queen of Hip-Hop during a ceremony in honor of African American Music Appreciation Month.
A viral Instagram video caught an unfiltered moment of Yonkers rapper Styles P paying homage to the Queen Bee. Right after Styles P said a few noble words to present the proclamation to Kim, Maino jumped on the chance to slide in a bold commentary of their status shouting, “Even though we’re not speaking right now…it’s still love!” Kim cleverly responded with, “No, he’s right, because he’s crazy! Anyway, I just want to say thank you…and use us. Use us in the industry. We have a voice and we want to represent our town, our city.”
In addition to her industry peers, the legendary Brooklyn rapper was honored for her contributions to Hip-Hop culture by the New York City Council’s Black, Latino and Asian Caucus with the proclamation alongside the city’s 12th Council District Arts and Music Award and Power of Influence Award. Other notables who were honored and in attendance were Angela and Vanessa Simmons, Hip-Hop clothier Dapper Dan, Dave East and Havoc. The event was hosted by NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and Bronx Councilman Andy King marking the 3rd annual Power Of Influence Awards.
In case you missed it, here’s a brief clip of the ex-lovers going toe-to-toe with each other at the ceremony.
