Don’t call it a comeback. Pharrell Williams has been breaking glass ceilings in the animation world for what seems like forever. This time Illumination and Universal Studios have summoned Williams yet again to amp up their latest film, Dr. Seuss children’s classic, The Grinch.
Williams made the announcement on his Instagram yesterday teasing his followers with a sneak peak of his voice over skills. “Incredibly honored and proud to narrate this timely adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ beloved classic.” he shares in the caption. Long time colleague and Grammy nominee Tyler, The Creator also sprinkles some magic in the midst with an original song, I Am The Grinch, to be performed for the feature film.
The older we get the more we realize how quickly the holiday season arrives each year but the anticipation surrounding this film will have anyone eager to reach its November 9th release date. Fun Fact: Pharrell’s tremendous amount of influence over soundtrack music production has garnered him over 300 credits throughout his career. Some other notable children’s films he’s enhanced include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014), the entire Despicable Me franchise, The Amazing Spider Man 2 and Happy Feet Two.
